We started in 1999 as The Spinal Cord Society of Australia with a focus on the establishment of local research laboratories here in Australia.

In 2008, we became StepAhead Australia.  Our mission is to translate spinal cord injury research into therapies for paralysed humans as rapidly and ethically as possible.

Our research efforts are directed and led by a world-class International Clinical Review Board supported by a professional management team.  Our scientific approach is collaborative as we believe the sharing of information, results and networks is the best possible way of finding a cure for spinal cord injury as rapidly as possible.
